Poet Troubadour

August 6th, 2009 by Lissa

The tradition lives on strong in singer-songwriter Richard Buckner. Just can’t say enough good things about this guy, who’s been emoting preternaturally good songs that reverberate in the gut for dirt-road miles, since the early 90s.  Think Nick Drake meets Townes meets Sun Volt meets Federico Garcia Lorca, whose poem “The Guitar“, might have been written to describe how Buckner plays.

My favorite is “On Traveling” closely followed by “Lil Wallet Picture”, both of which are found on his eponymous collection.  And here he is at “22″, or at least singing about it, when the smoke was full of you ~
